Quick Start - Team Sharing

Sharing Project is to Share Project File

“QuickPlan for macOS” is a native document-based app, a project is stored in a project file with .qpp file extension. Based on security and cost considerations, we do not store user data on our servers, and user-generated project data is stored at the user's discretion. By default, project files are stored locally on the Mac and the user can choose to save them to user-owned cloud storage. This means that the user has ownership of the files generated using the APP, but the user is also responsible for transfering project file to sharing with team.

Sharing file is pretty simple today on the macOS system:

  • The tranditional Mac File Sharing
  • Transfer files via AirDrop
  • Send Files via iMessage
  • Share via iCloud storage with permission control. For example sharing via Dropbox service
  • Share via web systems, such as MS SharePoint server
  • Email and many other options

Usually, to share files across iOS and macOS devices, the cloud storage services are the suitable solution, For example using Dropbox which provides the apps for various platforms with comfortable access support.

For the enterprise, security is a critical point for choosing a solution. Public cloud storage may not be in the considerations; MS SharePoint server may be the suitable solution to share files inner the enterprise with easy access and permission control (your enterprice may has other suitable file sharing solution).

Additional to sharing a whole project file with other project members, we can also share part of the project with others. The partial project plan can include the tasks of specific project members, or in a particular date range, or of a selected project group, or the visible (filtered) tasks when display in LIST style. Pretty useful features for the project managers to delivery suitable content to and track schedule with project members and sub-project teams.

Share Project to a Specific Project Member

QuickPlan supports to export project by specific project member as a new project, and the new project will only include the tasks the project member be assigned – this is a handy feature for sharing project schedule across team members. We may like to share the new project to another project members directly, or export to share the project as PDF file.

Share Project in a Specific Date Range

Share a selected Task Group in a new Project

Share the Visible Tasks (when displaying in LIST style)

QuickPlan supports to display tasks in a tree structure and in a list. When in list style, QuickPlan can export visible tasks only in a new project. (task groups will not be included)
